About nine petrol stations were yesterday sealed by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Katsina for hoarding, diverting or selling of petrol above government regulated prices.
The state’s Operations Manager, Engr Yusuf Shehu, said shortly after a monitoring exercise that severe penalties which included withdrawal of licenses and fines would be applied on the culprits.
“We have seen some marketers hoarding. We discovered over 30,000 litres unaccountable and cannot be traced. We have given them 48 hours to explain, failure of which we shall come hard on them,” he said.
He called on marketers and consumers to stop panic purchases as the commodity was available for all.
