Dr. Kurfi appointed provost of Yusuf Bala Usman College

Until his recent appointment, Dr. Kurfi was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education Foundation of the Federal University, Dutsin-ma Katsina.
Dr. Kurfi was a former lecturer (department of education) and university counselor at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina (UMYUK) before he joined the Federal University Dutsin-ma as senior lecturer.
He was onetime deputy speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly (1999-2003) and former chairman of Katsina State Radio and Television Board.
Dr. Kurfi is to take over the mantle of leadership of the college from Alhaji Musa Sule, who has been manning the college in acting capacity since the sacking of the college’s former provost, Dr. Abdullahi Saulawa.
Daily Trust recalls that the former provost and registrar of the college, Dr. Abdullahi Saulawa and Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim were sacked in December, 2011 following students’ protest.
The students staged a protest in October, 2011 over alleged lack of water, electricity and other services in the college, a situation that led to the sacking of the two top ranking officers.
