The Association of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners & Practitioners (AWDROP) has called for regulation and standardization of borehole drilling and water supply activities across the country.

This, the association said, would provide internal revenue for all tiers of government.

Rising from their general meeting which held in Abuja recently, the association also called for the establishment of National Unified Task Force towards quality environmental impact management, which would guarantee effective and efficient water supply strategies.

The President of the Association, Engineer Michael Ale, who presided over the meeting, said there was the need for immediate government financial intervention in revitalizing the moribund indigenous manufacturing company sector along the value chain of the water supply industry.

‘’There is a need for an upgrade in economic value chain leading to locally fabricated equipment and materials from the prospecting stage to the completing stage in order to generate employment, alleviate poverty, advance in technology and productivity and enhance industrial revolution,’’ he said.

While calling on the federal government to give made in Nigeria rigs the desired priority, Engineer Michael assured that all borehole drilling rigs operating in all the states would have a baseline insight of probable causes and effects of drilling activities.
