Driver, charcoal dealers nabbed for running errands for bandits

Soldiers have arrested a pickup driver and two charcoal dealers for allegedly running errands for bandits in Kagarko and Kachia LGAs of Kaduna State.

A community leader in one of the areas, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the arrests to our reporter through telephone on Sunday.

He said the suspects were arrested on Thursday in Kagarko Main Market by the troops after getting intelligence information about their presence.

He said the suspects were allegedly buying drugs, foodstuffs and drinks for the bandits.

He said, “The soldiers had before now gotten intelligence information about how the driver and the two charcoal dealers usually bought foodstuffs and drugs for the bandits in exchange for allowing them to produce charcoal in the forest.”

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the arrests.
