Driver, conductor charged with stealing N1.6m goods from Seven-Up

A driver, Phillip Nwachukwu, 34, and his conductor, Isaac Samson, 28, have been arrested for allegedly stealing 10 pallets of Seven-Up products worth N1.6 million.

 The suspects allegedly committed the offences on September 25, 2017 at the company’s premises located at Oregun, Ikeja.

 It was gathered that the suspects allegedly diverted the goods but were caught at the point of selling them. They were then handed over to the police. 

  After the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, advised that the matter be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation, the suspects appeared before an Ikeja chief magistrate’s court for conspiracy and stealing.

 The prosecutor, Inspector Clifford Ogu, told the court that the employees were asked to deliver the 10 pallets to a customer but diverted them to sell them illegally.

 The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

 The chief magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted each of them N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum. 

 She then adjourned the case until November 22, 2017 for mention.
