A truck driver, Williams Ogieva and his conductor, Ifeanyi Adonu, were docked at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday for allegedly stealing goods worth N3.2 million.

The defendant, Ogieva, 38 and Adonu, 22, whose residential addresses were not given, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offences on April 30 at Okota area of Lagos.

He said that the duo stole 65 cartons of corona grinding machines valued N3.2 million, belonging to Adeem Nigeria Ltd.

“The defendants were to convey the goods to Onitsha in a Scania truck marked USL921ZC, but stole 65 cartons,” Osuji said.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 370 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Ope-Agbe, granted them bail in the sum of N2 million each with one surety each in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until May 23 for trial. (NAN)
