A road accident involving 13 students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has claimed the life of their driver.
The students were reportedly returning from Ilorin, Kwara State, when their vehicle crashed near Yauri in Kebbi State.
The driver died instantly, while all 13 students sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Eight students reportedly suffered bone fractures, while five are currently receiving treatment at the UDUS Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed immediate release of funds for medical emergencies involving the 13 students of Kwara State origin at the Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto.
“The Governor has immediately released N5,250,000.00 to cover the cost of tests, scans, and other procedures and treatments already itemized by the hospital,” a statement by Special Assistant on Students Affairs Hon. Wasiu Onidugbe, said.
