A Kano State Senior Magistrate Court sitting at Gyadi-Gyadi has sentenced one Nura Jibrin of Rijiyar Lemo quarters in Fagge local government area to six months imprisonment for violating traffic laws.

Jibrin, a commercial driver, was arraigned before the court for driving with fake particulars and without a driving license.

The Police Prosecution Officer, ASP Sani Musa told the court that the offences contradict sections 7, 21 and 26 of the Road Traffic Act.

ASP Musa said the accused was driving along Dangi roundabout in the state metropolis earlier this month when a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) on duty stopped him and demanded for his particulars.

“It was in the process of checking his vehicle’s particulars that the VIO discovered that the accused was using fake particulars and had no driving license,” he said.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
In view of that, the presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Rahama Mu’azu sentenced him to six months imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine.
