A 29-year-old boat driver has committed suicide over alleged frosty relationship with his girlfriend.

The deceased, Alabo Enai, from Kemme town in Twon-Brass area of Brass Local Government Council of Bayelsa State, was said to be in relationship with a girl known as Blessing from Ologbobiri in Southern Ijaw LGA of the state.

He reportedly hanged himself with a fishing rope in his compound on the afternoon of Easter Sunday. His lifeless body was discovered by this same lover, who had gone to Twon Brass town for Easter service.

According to a witness, “People then rushed out and found him dead, but there was no suicide note. We later gathered from her that they had been having issues over her decision to relocate to her community in Southern Ijaw.

“After he complained about her decision, she reportedly changed her mind and decided to stay. On the fateful day, she said she asked him to come along with her for the Easter show, but he declined and told her to have fun.”

The police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the report, saying that the police were investigating the matter.
