Driver jailed 1 year over motorcycle theft

A Jos magistrates’ court on Monday jailed a 30-year-old driver, Aminu Sani, for stealing a motorcycle.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Bokkos gave him an option of N50,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on September 17 by a police officer from the anti-kidnapping unit in Jos.

Gokwat said the convict was given the motorcycle to wash but he absconded with it.

He said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
