A driver, simply identified as Safiyanu was trapped after a bus he was driving went under a moving truck at Piri junction, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the accident happened around 8:25 am yesterday, when the driver of the J5 bus with registration; FTA 19 AA loaded with kola nut lost control and rammed into an unmarked truck.
He said the driver was trapped between his steering wheel and the driver’s seat, adding that until men of the Federal Road Corps (FRSC) arrived the scene to rescue him.
When contacted, the Yangoji unit Commander of the FRSC, Aminu Shuaibu, confirmed the incident, saying his men used an extricating machine to remove the driver and conveyed him to the Kwali General Hospital.
He attributed the accident to fatigue. He also said two persons were injured in another accident which occurred on Saturday, at Sabon -Gari village, along the same road.
According to him, the accident happened around 5:58 pm and involved a Toyota Camry with registration number JAL 19AA. He said the driver lost control while on speed and crashed into a ditch.
He said two persons sustained injuries and were also taken to the Kwali General Hospital for treatment.
