Driver who crushed 12 worshippers in Kano remanded

The driver of the truck that crushed 12 worshippers and injured many others during Friday prayers in Imawa in Kura LGA of Kano State, Murtala Abdullahi Azare, has been remanded in prison.

Azare, who appeared before a magistrates’ court in Gyadi Gyadi, was charged with causing death, reckless driving and driving without licence.

Counsel to the defendant, A. Y. Abdullahi, asked the court to admit him to bail, but the Magistrate, Lami Sani, remanded him and adjourned the case till July 24, when the court would consider the bail request.
