Special Adviser to the Speaker on Communications, Chief Kayode Odunaro, who spoke through Bankole in a telephone conversation with Sunday Trust last week, said that members of the two bodies were enjoined to forward names of their wards planning to sit for candidates for the National Examination Council (NECO) November/December examinations.

Odunaro noted that the programme spread across party lines and “interested members of bodies like the NUJ and NURTW and market women are given specific slots, with the only proviso being the presentation of qualified candidates.

He stressed that, “as part of the measures to ensure that only qualified candidates are registered for the screening started on September 15, 2009 at the Isale Ake Constituency Office of Rt. Hon. Bankole and is expected to last for one week during which 1000 students are expected to be registered,” hinting that as last week about 400 have been successfully screen to participate in the programme.

Odunaro explained that the programme was a composite of the Speaker of House Representatives constituency educational outreach empowerment programme, pointing out that over the years since its inception, “success rate of candidates averages over 98% in all subjects as a result of the strict screening of candidates, provision of learning aids like exercise books and other writing materials and the engagement of tutors for a crash three month revision exercise.
