Drug addiction in undergraduate students living on university campuses is becoming an increasing problem in the country, a lecturer has said. The lecturer said drug abuse was a serious health problem that affected almost every university community and family.

He said peer group influence and parental neglect were some of the causes of drug addiction. “Drug abuse plays a crucial role in many major social problems, such as drugged driving, violence and stress,” he said. 

A students said “it got to the extent that many cannot read effectively without taking drugs such as marijuana, codeine, anabolic steroids, club drugs , which makes many of them to lose their normal psychological conscience.”
