Drug addict ‘kills’ mother in Ogun

A suspected drug addict, Samson Sikiru, has allegedly strangled his mother to death in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the deceased’s residence at Itanrin in Ijebu- Ode, on Sunday.

Sources said the suspect’s younger brother, who is a night guard returning from duty, alerted the neighbours of the incident.

A source said Samson, aged 32, was arrested after the neighbours discovered that he was behind the death of his mother and subsequently handed him over to the police.

One of the witnesses labelled the suspect as a known drug addict who fled home for five years, but returned recently.

The police spokesman, Omotola Odutola confirmed the incident.

Odutola said the suspect is a psychiatric patient.

“Lacerations were discovered, found around her right legs, proving that there was force and violence,” the police publicist said.

She added that the suspect “Is still in the police custody, but, nothing much has been gotten from him, as he has not answered any coherent questions put across to him.”
