The Edo State Command of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) has paraded two suspected internet fraudsters for allegedly using the names of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and First Lady Aisha Buhari to defraud unsuspecting people.

The suspects are 18-year-old Kelvin Godwin Ogashi and 30-year-old Amos Ehis Asuelimen, a Business Administration student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Addressing journalists, yesterday, the Deputy Director (Security Enforcement) of DSS, Galadima Byange, said the suspects were arrested in July 2019 at Ubiaja town in Esan South East and Ugbor, IKpoba-Okha local government areas of Edo State.

According to him, Asuelimen confirmed that he created Facebook accounts with the names of Yemi Osinbajo and Aisha Buhari to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

He said during interrogation the suspect admitted defrauding five persons who he told to send money and recharge card so as to process their registration for a loan of N100,000 for youths from Osinbajo.

“I created the account using my infinity phone but my parents did not know I am a fraudster. I am into fraud thinking I will get money to pay my fees and complete my degree course,” he told the DSS.

The DSS Deputy Director said Ogashi confessed to have created in May an Instagram account with Aisha Buhari’s name and picture for the purpose of swindling people, adding that his accomplices are at large.

While warning the youth to desist from engaging in fraud, he said the suspects would be charged to court.
