DSS Raid: How I made $38, 800 and N3.5m found in my house — Justice Okoro

A serving justice of the Supreme Court, Justice John Inyang Okoro, whose house was invaded by the DSS has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed saying that he has not received any bribe from anybody.

In a letter to the CJN dated 12 October, 2016 he explained how he came about $38, 800 USD and N3.5 Million recovered from his house.

Inyang said that he was entitled to have more than the amount recovered from him by the DSS, adding that the recovered money was  the balance of his estacode received from the Supreme Court for the past three years.

This, according to him was different from the estcodes he received for international Conferences he has so far attended since joining the apex court.

He explained that for the past three years the sum of $24, 000 USD and #10, 000 were his annual medical / vacation allowances, adding that he did not spend more than #5, 000 on each of the three trips he has so far made abroad.

“The DSS has not confronted him with any petition or complaint from any quarters whatsoever . Rather  they have grilled me, asking questions on some none existing properties around the country. They have also doubted the age of my children alleging that they are toddlers. This is sad and unbelievable”, Inyang said.
