For now, Drifta services are available only in DStv Mobile network areas in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Aba, Benin City, Kaduna and Enugu.

The mobile TV decoder receives the DStv Mobile broadcast signal and relays it over WiFi to a range of WiFi capable devices which includes laptops, PCs, tablets such as iPad, smatphones, iPhones and iPods. At launch the Drifta supports Windows and iOS devices, however in the future additional devises such as Blackberry OS, Symbian 3 and Android applications will also be supported, Okunola explained.

He said for premium subscribes, the Drifta comes as additional value as they wouldn’t be paying any access fee but would only purchase the device. While those on other bouquet and those who don’t have DStv can subscribe to the Mini and Maxi bouquet.

Managing director Multichoice Nigeria, Joseph Hundah said “The development and introduction of new technology is key to ensuring that DStv subscribers get more enjoyments and control of their TV viewing.”

The channels available for Drifta include; Africa Magic, Africa Magic Yoruba, E! Entertainment Mobile and Bet. Others are NTA Plus, Channel O, Trace, Urban Urban, SS Blitz, SuperSport 9, SuperSport 10 and SuperSport 3, CNN, NN24 and Cartoon Network Mobile.
