The decision, he explained was borne out of the fact that the sports are getting more patronage among Nigeria schools and clubs.

“It is high time we start investing into these sports because of the interest Nigerians are showing in them,” he explained.

Awogu, who stated this at a media parley with sports reporters in Lagos, however said that some of the sports would have to be delayed until adequate facilities are provided for their patronage.

“Our plan is to support the sport and not to develop the facilities. A typical production used to cost us over N7million on some weekends,” he explained.

He dismissed speculations that the firm would take over the telecast of Champions League,  stressing that Dstv would concentrate on the Champions League next season as Hitv is not doing badly.

“We are currently saddled with the English and Spanish League this season and we shall focus on the Champions League next season,” he said.
