Speaking on the concept of the film, its producer, Aminu Sheriff Momoh, said it is a complete package as it was well researched and documented to address the pressing menace which has been identified as one of the greatest challenges to youth development in the northern part of the country.

On what inspired him to come up with such a film, Momoh said the need for social reform with the aid of Hausa films motivated him. Two of his recent films, Aikatau which addressed the issue of child trafficking and labour and Guguwa, a film that focused on armed robbery as a result of unemployment inspired him to address drug abuse.

“It actually took me a long time researching the issue which is so obvious in the society today and after devising a way of interacting with real and notorious drug addicts in town, I decided to put forward to members of the public the actual scenario through what I know how to do best and that is why I came up with this movie,” he said, adding that he hopes this flick will match the impact his two other movies made.

The storyline is about a young University girl, Hasiya, who turns out to be a drug addict as a result of “parental’ negligence.” She ends up co-opting others including her boyfriend. However, she suffers the consequences of engaging in the act.  While that may be regular in movies, the film makes a bold move by depicting how women in purdar engage in the sales and abuse of drugs from their homes.

For guys, who are commonly associated with drug abuse, Duniyar Sama captured how they do it their own way with its attendant consequences. The roles of parents, teachers, peer groups as well as that of the society in curbing the problem were all showcased in the film.

Directed by Hassan Giggs, the movie which will be launched into the market soon featured actors like Shehu Hassan Kano, Aminu Shariff, Samira Ahmed, Shehu Hassan Kano, Tanimu Akawu, Hauwa Mohammed, Mudassiru Haladu, Jamila Umar Nagudu, Al’amin Buhari and Abdullai Sani among others.
