Palpable tension is said to have gripped employees of the Federal University Dutsin-ma as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Kaita, starts implementing a white paper that recommends the rectification of irregular employment and promotion by the previous management.
Daily Trust gathered that no fewer than 158 staff who have over stayed their one year appointment period as stipulated in their employment letters have been disengaged.
Speaking with newsmen on the development, Prof. Kaita said 242 staff on temporary appointments would be verified.
“It was observed that the law of the university stated that all their appointments were temporal and the law governing us states that no temporal appointment should be beyond a year and some have stayed for over three years on that. So we have to apply the law,” he said.
