Super Eagles of Nigeria’s forwards had an impressive weekend in their various European clubs with goals for the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho (brace), Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu in their respective league matches.

Osimhen sealed Napoli’s 2-0 win at Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A with a well placed shot in the 87th minute, controlling Dries Meertens’ through ball before smashing into the far post for his second goal in three matches.

Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo also continued his fine scoring form for relegation-threatened Crotone in their 3-2 loss at Spezia. The 28 years old converted Crotone’s second from a cutback for his 16th league goal of the season. Nwankwo was last capped at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and last joined the Eagles squad for their AFCON 2019 qualifier in Sychelles.

Paul Onuachu also continued his scoring form in Belgium with his 27th league goal of the season. The lanky forward buried a shot on 54 minutes to seal Genk’s 4-0 win over St. Truiden.

In the English Premier League, Kelechi Iheanacho led Leicester City’s attempt at a comeback from three goals down but fell short by a goal.

The 24-year-old buried a 22-yard strike with less than 20 minutes left and added a second goal in added time as Leicester succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.

Super Eagles midfield strongman Wilfred Ndidi played all 90 minutes for Leicester in the encounter.

Joe Aribo’s superb volley from six yards gave Scottish Premier League champions Rangers the lead in their 2-1 win over Hibernian to maintain Gers’ 100% home record this season.

Leon Balogun who recently signed a one-year contract extension was not listed in Rangers’ squad.
