Guinea are on top of Group B by virtue of their 4-1 away victory over Ethiopia in their first match of the qualifiers.
There were huge doubts surrounding today’s 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Guinea after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) initially informed Guinea that the tie has been postponed until further notice.
However, late Friday, CAF informed Guinea the match will go ahead as scheduled.
The Eagles, therefore, departed Abuja yesterday in a chartered flight for today’s match promising their teeming fans outright victory over Syli Stars.
Home based members of the team, Valentine Nwabili and Chibuzor Ononkwo both expressed confidence that Eagles will beat Guinea.
Former international, Garba Lawal also shared in their optimism as he said “They are professionals, so I do not see why the uncertainties of the past days will affect them physically as they have been featuring for their clubs and have also been training for the game,” Lawal said.
