The Super Eagles of Nigeria gained entry into the Benin Republic on Friday afternoon following a boat journey from the Five Cowries Terminal in Lagos State.

The team entered Benin through the Porto Novo sea port via Lagos’ waterways system.

It was also disclosed that all the travelling party took the mandatory COVID-19 test was before they were allowed formal entry into their West African neighbour’s home.

The media team announced their arrival on Twitter, stating that Gernot Rohr’s team have lodged at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Cotonou.

“We have arrived in Porto Novo. We also had our mandatory Covid test done at the point of entry.
We’ve settled in and lodged at the Golden Tulip Le Diplomat Hotel in Cotonou.”

Nigeria will face Benin Republic at Charles de Gaulie stadium in their Group L AFCON 2021 qualifier at 5 p.m. tomorrow.

A draw would see the Eagles seal a place at the tournament set for next January in Cameroon.
