Eaglets trounce hosts Niger 4-1

The Eaglets, playing their first competitive game under new coach Manu Garba, took the lead through striker Isaac Success, before the highly promising Ibrahim Alhassan aka ‘Muazam’ doubled the visitors’ lead in the second half.

Former Nigeria U15 star Kelechi Ihenacho increased the Nigerians’ advantage in the second half.

Niger pulled a goal back via a penalty before Chidera Eze, who fired a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Rwanda last weekend, made it 4-1.

The second leg of the qualifier will be played in Calabar on September 22.
