The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has raised fresh concerns over the worsening state of insecurity in Nigeria, urging authorities to take decisive action as Christians celebrate the 2026 Easter.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the forum said the Easter season, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being marked amid escalating social, economic and security challenges.
ACF noted that insecurity and criminality have continued to worsen, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where many communities are experiencing repeated attacks, loss of lives and destruction of property.
The forum lamented that the situation has led to widespread displacement, fractured community relations and growing fear among citizens, describing the trend as deeply troubling.

It stressed that the persistence of such challenges during a period meant for reflection, sacrifice and hope calls for urgent and decisive intervention by security agencies.
“Communities across the North have continued to suffer devastation, undeserved deaths and dislocation due to the activities of non-state armed actors and other criminal elements,” the statement said.
Despite the grim realities, ACF commended Nigerians for their resilience and determination to celebrate Easter, noting that their faith and hope for a better future remain strong.
The forum, however, insisted that beyond prayers, concrete steps must be taken to address the security crisis, urging authorities to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and end the cycle of violence.
It also called on security agencies to be reinvigorated and proactive in confronting the threats facing communities across the country.
ACF further urged citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding and prayerful, while expressing optimism that Nigeria can still overcome its challenges and achieve lasting peace and prosperity.
