The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has assured residents of adequate security and protection before, during and after the Easter celebrations.
The corps said it has deployed 4,000 personnel across the territory to ensure safety throughout the period.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Ojobi stated that the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, had directed operatives to enforce law and order while ensuring that the rights of residents are respected as Christians celebrate Easter.
Odumosu said the deployed personnel were drawn from specialised units of the corps, including the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Agro Rangers.
He also directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure their respective Area Councils remain secured, with visible presence to prevent security breaches.
The commandant further charged personnel to maintain discipline and professionalism while collaborating with other security agencies. (NAN)
He advised officers to strictly adhere to rules of engagement and avoid harassment, intimidation of citizens, as well as accidental discharge.
“Residents are advised to be vigilant and watch out for suspicious movements, including persons dressed unusually, as well as unattended bags or objects in public places, to avoid falling victim to terrorist attacks,” he said. (NAN)
