Ebebi, ex-Bayelsa deputy gov dumps PDP, set to join APC

A former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi has withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the governorship election.

Ebebi, who is a founding member of PDP in the state, was also a two-time speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and two-time deputy governor.

Ebebi’s resignation which has since been accepted by the PDP ward 3 chairman in Ekeremor local government of the state, Mr A Ebikeniye, takes effect from October 11, 2019.

He cited fraudulent internal democracy in the party, disregard and disrespect for due process as entrenched in PDP constitution as well as desperation of the party leadership as some of the reasons behind his resignation from the party’s membership.

“I have come to this hard decision after experiencing an enduring and excruciating period of a largely fraudulent internal democracy in the state chapter of the PDP, disrespect and disregard for due process as entrenched in PDP constitution and electoral guidelines, high-handedness and desperation of the party leadership.

“The fact that my membership of the party is ending does not diminish the great political experience I have enjoyed, it has been absolutely outstanding,” he said.

It was also gathered that the former deputy governor may be joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally any moment from now.
