Ebedi Writers’ Residency to mark 4th anniversary

Since it was opened on 1st September, 2010, the programme has hosted dozens of local and foreign writers who spent several weeks at the facility working on their manuscripts at the expense of the residency programme.
Initiated by writer, medical doctor and politician, Dr. Wale Okediran, the programme has also benefitted Iseyin, which has had top notch writers residing in the community and interacting with students in local schools, offering tutorial and special training to the students as a way of giving back.
Events to commemorate the anniversary will be held on September 27 in at NSIAC, Ibadan and will feature a key note address, by Abubakar Othman of the University of Maiduguri, on “Creative Writing And The Challenges Of Globalization.”
There will be poetry readings as well as drama sketches by students mentored by fellows of the residency, and awards for outstanding fellows and Patrons of the residency.
The main Highlight of the event will be the public presentation of The Ebedi Review, a compendium  of articles, poems and short stories woven around the residency which has played host to about 50 writers from Africa since its inception.
The occasion will be chaired by Otunba Lawal Solarin while the special guest of honour will be Hon. Monsurat Sumonu, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly.
