The body at its zonal meeting held at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, Ekiti State, at the weekend, lamented that most health institutions in the country have no adequate power supply, water and effective sanitary systems to combat the scourge of Ebola virus disease in case of an outbreak.
In a communiqué signed by its Zonal Coordinator, Dosumu Babatunde and Zonal Secretary, Olawale Adetunji, ASUP described the non-composition of Governing Council in some state-owned polytechnics as an attempt by to oppress members of staff.
The communiqué observed that the Ebola scourge in Nigeria can only be meaningfully tackled when the health institutions are improved.
It urged federal and state governments to improve on water supply and sanitary provisions in the public hospitals as part of the ongoing fight against Ebola disease.
The communiqué read in part:”Management of all the state polytechnics, monotechnics and allied institutions should, with immediate effect, remit all pension deductions of staff to their respective PFAs or face the wrath of the union.
“The threat of some Rectors to reverse the implementation of CONTISS 15 migration in their institutions is illegal as there is no document to support their actions. ASUP resolved to resist such illegal act with every weapon in her possession.”
