The state Commissioner of Health Dr Abubakar Sani Malami disclosed this yesterday while speaking at a sensitization workshop on Ebola virus organized by the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi.
He said government has taken all proactive measures to deal with any outbreak on  diseases.
He advised people of Bauchi State to remain calm but vigilant in their environment and report suspected cases of severe fever to the nearest health facility assuring that adequate health measures have been put in place to treat such people before it becomes an epidemic, adding that two rapid response centers have been established in Bauchi and Azare for any noticed victim of the infection.
A consultant clinical micro biologist with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi, Professor Sambo Bello Zailani has cautioned hunters and consumers of bush meat to desist from the practice to avoid contracting the deadly Ebola virus.
Professor Zailani said that due to the deadly nature of the virus, people should take all the necessary precautionary measures to prevent its spread.
He said, “There are two mode of protection of the virus. We have the protection within the community and in the hospital level as transmission can be within these mediums. Within the community, people should refrain from consuming bush meat like gorilla, chimpanzee and bats. Secondly, areas that are infected with the epidemic should not be visited by people, any suspected case of the virus should be reported to the closest health facility in order to avoid transmission to another person.”
He said that  the symptoms of the virus include high fever, headache, weakness, vomiting, diarrohea, bleeding from the eyes, anus, and ears,  and warned people from touching all secretion that contain the virus.
