In a statement yesterday, Nwadike said the warning is necessary due to “the highly fatal nature of 90 percent fatality rate.”
He implored the executive of NBA to assess the threat potential of the disease to the gathering of lawyers and take adequate preventive measures, and perhaps to consider postponement as a valid option.
“The AGC is reputed as the largest gathering of lawyers on earth, with times over 10,000 lawyers in attendance, and consistent with the mode of transmission of the Ebola virus including direct physical contact with body fluids of an infected person such as blood, aliva, urine and sweat or contact with objects contaminated,” he said.
Daily Trust reported Monday that the President of the NBA Okey Wali (SAN) has assured participants of adequate measures ahead of the AGC in Owerri. He said hand sanitisers, and towels will be put in the packs of participants.
He said apart from medical team at the venue, hand-wash taps will be provided at the venue of the conference.
“The conference will go on. We cannot shut down this country because of the Ebola disease,” Wali said.
