The measures were disclosed to members of the university community last week in a notice titled “Things to know about Ebola Virus disease,” issued by Dr. S.A. Asaniyan.  
According to Dr. Asaniyan, the preventive measures include not touching patients, their excretions and body fluids, or possibly contaminated materials or utensils. Patients should be isolated and medical staff trained to apply strict barrier nursing techniques (disposable face mask, gloves, goggles and a gown at all times). Traditional burials, especially those requiring embalming of corpses should be discouraged or modified. Avoid eating bush meat for now especially apes, bats and antelopes. Wash your hands as regularly as possible especially after shaking or touching a stranger, it is spread by contact.
He however added, “Awareness is the key. Don’t just read or ignore. Spread this campaign before the virus spreads.”
It is now up to governments at all levels, medical experts and educated Nigerians to carry on with this campaign in order to safeguard the health and well-being of the society and to forestall the reoccurrence of diarrhea, as many people are still on admission since the salty day’s incident.
