As part of efforts to revolutionise agriculture, farmers in Ebonyi State would soon be trained by the government on the use of mechanised agricultural equipment.
This was disclosed, recently, in Abakaliki by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Barr. Uchenna Orji, during a press conference he addressed together with his Information and Orientation counterpart, Dr. Emmanuel Onwe.
Orji said that the government has engaged the services of some “expatriates to train the farmers on the use of the mechanised agricultural equipment procured by the government.”
He explained that five hectares of land was acquired and cleared at the permanent site of the state’s university for the exercise, adding that registered farmers and farmers’ cooperative societies would benefit from the training.
