Ebonyi targets teachers to cut student unemployment

Initial training-organised by Ebonyi State government, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and HP’s Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs (LIFE)-targets teachers in 30 pilot schools.
Ebonyi Commissioner for Education Ndubuisi  Chibueze-Agbo said, “This workshop is designed to train our teachers in the 30 pilot secondary schools who teach ICT subjects. It is expected that knowledge acquired from this workshop will be transferred to the students.”
“Our intention is to start from secondary schools to develop the minds of our students on how to develop entrepreneurial and managerial competences, and we believe that once they are equipped with the necessary ICT skills that they will think and act globally and will be able to do business online. This will help reduce poverty,” he said.
Earlier, the UNIDO country representative Patrick Komawa, who was represented by Francis Uko, called on the state government to provide enabling environment for the project to strive in the state. He however, explained that the training which would be in phases.
