The meeting was the 41st in the series of meetings and the second in this year.
Declaring the meeting open, Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, represented by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Hyacinth E. Ikpor  assured the delegates  that the state is ready and prepared to host NAFEST 2014.
He further assured the delegates that in spite of the current Ebola virus scare, the state will proceed with necessary precautions to host the event.
In his speech, the Executive Director/CEO of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and Chairman of the meeting  Mr. MM  Maidugu  said  that  they were in the state  to inspect the venues and facilities.
 In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and inspection, the Culture Executives chose the theme “Celebrating Nigeria @ 100: The Role of Culture as Vehicle for National Unity” for this year`s NAFEST.
 It also approved the NAFEST 2014 Syllabus as well as accepted and adopted the AFAC 2014 Report while noting the acceptance of Anambra State to host the National Culture Quiz Competition scheduled for 28th to 31st October, 2014.
 In a communiqué, the culture executives, called on the National Troupe of Nigeria to relate with the necessary State Ministries and Agencies in respect to participation of artiste(s).
They also urged  NT/NTN to from time to time visit states for grand performances and on the spot assessment of artiste(s). while expressing appreciation to the Governor for hosting both the 40th and 41st Meeting of the Chief Executives and the festival.
