A philanthropist, Dr. Eruogu Igwe has called on students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) to distance themselves from any of the existing agitation groups in the state and beyond.
Dr. Igwe made this call yesterday when the leadership of the Ebonyi State University students Union government, led by its President, Comrade Agbom Benjamin presented him an award of excellence in Abakaliki.
He noted that the recent rising cases of insecurities, cult activities ravaging schools in the south east, including Ebonyi state can only be checked if youth engage themselves in positive activities.
“I wish to advise you as the future hope of the nation and our young dear state Ebonyi, to shun membership of any agitation group in the state and the nation at large.
“As a student of Ebonyi State University, you would only learn and graduate when there is absolute peace in the state and in Nigeria,” he explained.
Igwe, who also serves as a neurologist in Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, advised political officeholders including stakeholders in the state to assist the government in addressing the issue of unemployment facing the youths.
“So the political officeholders including stakeholders in the state should join forces with the government in addressing the high rate of unemployment facing Nigerian youths,” he noted.
Presenting the award on behalf of the EBSU students, the Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on student affairs, Hon Gideon Ifeanyi thanked the recipient for his humanitarian services and numerous contributions towards Ebonyi students.
