 The President of the ECOWAS Court, Justice Jerome Traore, has expressed the court’s readiness to enhance its reputation in and outside the sub-region.
He said this while speaking at the 8th Judiciary Retreat of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, which took place at the weekend in Nasarawa State with the theme ‘Improving the Case Management System of the Court.’
He lamented the difficulty encountered in the case management of the event and solicited the support of other judges and participants at the workshop.
“For the honourable judges who are the first affected by the difficulties encountered in the case management of the court, you are requested to bring to bear, expertise and experience in this task before us and proffer solution to the problems raised.
“For the participants, you are requested to contribute actively so that together we should provide a desirable solution to the problem raised and overcome the difficulties,” he said.
Also at the event, the Chief Registrar, Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, Mr. Tony Anene-Maidoh, described a good and efficient case management system as an indispensable tool in achieving a speedy administration of justice.
He said the workshop would enhance the service provided to the honourable judges, provide an excellent opportunity to upgrade service delivery platform as well as take into account international best practices.
“A good and efficient case management system is indispensable in the speedy administration of justice. With it, all cases before the court will be processed and managed faster and more efficiently
“An efficient system pays attention to efficient processing of applications, compliance with legal framework, transmission and notification of processes, scheduling, and certainty of hearing dates as well as speedy trial.
“It is also my hope that delay reduction measures will be adopted in order to enhance speedy administration of justice. I am also optimistic that this workshop will underscore the need for collaboration amongst the various departments and personnel involved in case management,” the chief registrar said.
