ECOWAS Games: Nigeria wins first gold in 800m

She beat Abu Agnes and Launab Rita both of Ghana to the first position in the Women 800m.

Speaking after the race, Agber who ran 2.09 minutes expressed satisfaction with her performance, though regretted she couldn’t beat her personal best of 2.03 minutes.

“I’m happy with my race. This is just the beginning. I’m going to win more for Nigeria. My only regret is that I couldn’t beat my personal best”, she said.

In the other race for the day, Nigeria’s Barnabas David bagged a bronze medal in the Men’s 1500m.

The Gold and Silver medals were won by Ghanaian Samson Azuma and Bright Atta Gyamfi respectively.

Other sporting events will continue today at both the Accra Stadium and Elwak Stadium, all in Accra, Ghana.
