The proprietor of Naija Ratels football club of Abuja, Barrister Paul Edeh, is on cloud nine following his team’s convincing 2-0 victory over Osun Babes in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season.

Olamide Adugbe and Agama Ziperekefeghe scored a goal each in the 9th and 26th minute of the first half to hand Naija Ratels a debut to remember in the Nigerian women topflight.

Speaking to Daily Trust on the victory, the president of Naija Ratels Foundation said his joy knew no bounds after the hard fought win over Osun Babes on the opening day of the 2021/2022 season.

 “My joy knows no bounds considering that these girls have been working hard for many months for the victory. For the past two years, they have been preparing for this moment and when it came, it brought so much joy and excitement

“This is just the beginning of greater things to come for the team. Naija Ratels is a corporate entity and a business concern. As the man at the helm of affairs, I will stop at nothing to ensure that the welfare of the girls is properly catered for.

“Secondly, in line with the rules of the NWFL, we intend to honour all our matches and to ensure we give our best in the league,” he said.  

Ede therefore charged the players to ensure they qualify to represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League.

“Our target is to emerge victorious in the NWFL Championship and to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League. This for us is the target,” he said.
