The Edo State House of Assembly has dismissed all political appointees hired by its 24 lawmakers. 

The affected aides include special advisers (SAs) and senior special advisers (SSAs), among others. 

Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced the decision during plenary yesterday, stating that the sack takes immediate effect. He added that the affected aides would, nonetheless, receive their February salaries. 

“Upon resumption, members nominated individuals from their constituencies for appointment as aides. Now, after nearly two years, the House has agreed that all SAs and SSAs be relieved of their positions as of today, February 19, 2025,” he said. 

He noted that the assembly would deliberate on the next steps regarding political appointments.
