The crisis rocking the Edo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)  has deepened as a faction of the party has suspended leaders of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Sen. Osareimen Osunbor and Sen. Ehigie Uzamare, over alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.

Also suspended are  Sen. Yisa Braimah,  Nosa Ehima, Sylvester Ewanehi, Tony Alile, Jafaru Sumaila, Stella Alli, Igieogbe Asemota and Christopher Ojeikere.

A statement signed by the  party factional  chairman, Kennedy Odion,   said the suspension would last for a period not exceeding three months pending the outcome of investigations by the State Disciplinary Committee.

In the statement the faction explained that the action was taken in line with relevant provisions of its constitution, citing alleged acts of insubordination, anti-party activities, and conduct capable of causing disaffection within the party.

Responding, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, described Kelly Odion as inconsequential.  He said:  “I don’t descend so low, that  is so inconsequential and I won’t waste my energy on that.” In Benue, the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the faction, led by its Chairman, Elias Adikwu, said it had upheld an earlier suspension of Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker-Jev, Hon. Terngu Tsegba, Hon. Samson Okwu, Barr. Herman Hembe and Barr. Alex Ter Adum for alleged violations of the party’s constitution.

Our correspondent reports that few days ago, a bloc believed to have the backing of Senator David Mark announced a new state executive headed by former House of Representatives, Samson Okwu, now allegedly suspended.

The Adikwu committee told journalists during a press conference in Makurdi that the disciplinary action followed due process and was necessary to maintain order and enforce compliance with the party’s constitutional provisions.

The SEC also declared loyalty to Adikwu’s leadership, insisting it remained the only legitimate authority of the party in Benue State.

Our correspondent earlier reported a counter development, where another faction of the party announced the emergence of a new state executive following a congress held on Saturday in Makurdi.

The faction said Okwu, was elected as State Chairman alongside other executives to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.
