Edo community petitions IGP over killings, cultism

A socio-cultural group, Okpella Progressive Union Northern Congress (OPU), has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to immediately come to the aid of their community over what they describe as “unchecked senseless killings and untold harassments and other ungodly activities of cultists” on the people of Okpella in Edo State.

The group, which also copied the Commissioner of Police in the state and the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, said in the petition that the establishment of a mini barracks in Okpella would help complement the fight against youth restiveness and cultism in Okpella and its environs.

In a communiqué signed by its President, Mr. Abednigo Imiagbedion, OPU said if the issue was not quickly addressed it may discourage investors from Okpella or force them to quit the area.
