 Residents of Evbokabua in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo have appealed to the State Government to rehabilitate the only primary school in the community.

They made the appeal in separated interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Evbokabua.

A pastor in the community, Mr Peter Efe-Osayande, told NAN that the present condition of Osadebawmen Primary School, the only public primary school in the area, was deplorable.

“The rehabilitation is long overdue; the pupils get drenched whenever it rains and this is not good for our children.

“The school was established in 1955, and three of the five buildings had collapsed completely while the remaining one has a leaking roof.

“The only building the pupils are managing with now was built in 2007 through the Education Trust Fund,” Efe-Osayande said.

Mrs Rose Bose said: “Many politicians have come here with different electioneering promises and after getting our votes they refuse to keep their promises.

“Today we parents are begging the government to rehabilitate the school.

“For more than 15 years there has been no power supply in Evbokabua because the supply that came through Abavo in Delta State was disconnected.”

Another resident of the community, Mr Friday Unionmwan, said that the community was underdeveloped.

“We also appeal to NNDC to come to our aid and fix the primary school, reconnect us with the national grid and repair our road. (NAN)
