The Edo State Government has disclosed that the state has discovered coal in commercial quantities.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, who briefed newsmen in Benin City said Edo State has huge potential in solid mineral deposits, calling on investors to come and invest in the state.
According to him, the Coal deposit was discovered around Uromi in Esan North East Local Government of Edo State.
Afegbua noted that aside from coal deposits, Edo has huge potential in limestone, gold and arable land for agriculture, noting that part of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s agenda was to stimulate investment opportunity across the state.
While calling on investors to come and invest in the state, he said the state government is putting a functional system in place for the ease of doing business and to drive the economy in the State.
Afegbua noted that the State is blessed with human and material resources to drive economic growth in the State.
According to him, “if you don’t have a functioning system put in place, the ease of doing business may also hamper those who are willing to do business in the State.
Continuing, Afegbua disclosed that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration is taking delivery of 50 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease transportation cost in the State.
