The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has inaugurated a new hajj camp in Benin.

Commissioning the camp, Obaseki said it would serve as a meeting and coordination point for hajj activities, as well as the welfare of Muslim pilgrims in the state.

He said that the project was part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of Muslims in the state.

He said, “When citizens are in pain, when they have hardships, when they are troubled, very few of them have access to government house. But every Friday, if you go to the mosque, you find people who don’t have food, people who cannot eat, people who are sick, who need help.”

Obaseki also inaugurated a new board for the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board with a charge to work towards the benefit of the Muslim community in the state.

In his remark, the board’s Chairman, Sheik Ibrahim Oyarekhua, commended the governor for the camp.
