Edo gov’ship: Traditional rulers adopt Shaibu

Traditional rulers in Edo North have adopted the state’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, ahead of the 2024 governorship election in the state.

The traditional rulers disclosed this at the palace of the Ogieneni of Uzairue, Alhaji Kadiri Imhonikhe, Omogbai IV, when their counterparts from Edo Central Senatorial District led by the Onogie of Uromi, HRH Anslem Aidonojie, visited them to seek their support in producing the next governor of the state.

Daily Trust reports that the traditional rulers from Edo Central had paid a similar visit to the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, to seek the support of Benin people.

During the meeting, the leader of the Edo Central delegation, HRH Aidonojie, said the visit was to meet with them with a view to soliciting their support for a governor of Esan (Edo Central) extraction for the 2024 governorship election.

Responding on behalf of the Edo North traditional rulers, the Olokpe of Okpe, HRH Oba Idogu III, said their son who was currently the deputy governor had already informed them that he was interested in the governorship seat, hence that they would throw their weight behind him.
