The Edo State government has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) of orchestrating protests against the judiciary, judges, and lawyers regarding the case involving the suspended Enigie (Dukes) and the Oba of Benin.
Scheduled for today at the Benin High Court, the case involves the suspended Enigie, led by Duke of Evbuobanosa and Egbaen Siluko, Prof. Gregory Akenzua, and Chief Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen, challenging their suspension by the Oba of Benin.
At the last hearing on May 9, over 100 priests, priestesses, and palace chiefs protested at the High Court, chanting curses against the Oba’s adversaries.
Chris Nehikare, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, alleged that opposition parties were using social media to incite disruptions at the court.

In response, APC chairman, Jarret Tenebe, dismissed the allegations as unfounded, emphasising their focus on the upcoming governorship election.
The Labour Party’s spokesperson, Sam Uroupa, similarly refuted the claims, labelling them as attempts to distract from governance issues.
