Bishop Akhalamhe has emerged the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship candidate for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo state.
Akhalame, who is also the party state chairman, was adopted by members of the party during the primary election in Benin, on Thursday.
Daily Trust reports that the primary election was done in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In his acceptance speech, Akhalame said he was in the race to rescue Edo state from the curb web of stagnation and economy comatose.
“Edo would continue to experience good governance when I took over the mantle of leadership from governor Godwin Obaseki”
While commending the party members for the confidence reposed in him, he said Edo would witness massive development if elected.
“When a man is prepared for a mission, he is always excited when you have the support of the people,” he said.
