Edo State Commissioner for Women Affair, Mrs Eugenia Abdullah, says Governor Monday Okpebholo has achieved 35 per cent women affirmation in the allocation of cabinet positions in the State.

Mrs Abdullah disclosed this over the weekend while highlighting the Ministry’s achievement in the last one year under Okpebholo.

She said the governor had implemented various initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, economic development, and social welfare in the state.

From allocating 35 per cent of cabinet positions to women, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes, she said, Okpebholo also “approved N1 billion in soft loans for market women to boost their businesses.”

The Commissioner also stated that the ministry had championed women empowerment projects, prioritized girl-child development, and advocated for policies benefiting women and children.

She also disclosed that the ministry is hosting the 25th Edition of the Regular National Council on Women Affair and Child Development between November 10 and 13, 2025.

The programme, she said, aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and The SHINE Agenda of Governor Okpebholo.

Continuing, She further disclosed that the ministry had built a new residential facility for vulnerable elderly individuals in the society, noting that the facility currently housed 10 elderly persons in Ikpoba Okha and Orhionmwon local governments of Edo state.

Mrs Abdullah explained that the Ministry also targeted 54,000 women for economic empowerment in partnership with the federal government, providing them with entrepreneurial training, access to microfinance, and skills development initiatives.
